Talking with Cheryl about food and the mindset connection has been so powerful!
I talk about mindset all the time. I talk about how important it is and how we shape our mindset daily because it’s really important.
And yet, talking with Cheryl and her battle with depression was eye-opening. Because food can be medicine . . . she’s living proof. And food, affects your mood, your body and your mindset which affects everything!
That means developing a healthy mindset has to incorporate a holistic approach. Because, what you put in your mouth, how much you move your body and the thoughts and words that you’re feeding your mind on a daily basis, all matter.
How Do You Recognize When You Need To Change Your Mindset
Everybody has off days. But, there are a few signs that you’re having more than just an off-day. There are signs that you need to change your mindset so you can actually move forward.
Here are a few surefire signs you need a change of mindset:
- If you see yourself as the victim more often than not . . .
- If the conversations and stories you tell yourself and others about you are all negative and self-limiting. . .
- If you’re afraid of making mistakes or taking chances, or life in general . . .
- If you can’t embrace any type of change, even when you know it’s for the better
- If you’re staying stuck in the same place, and not moving forward towards your dreams
- If you feel like an imposter when you try to do anything worthwhile . . .
- If you’re always expecting the worse . . .
All of these things are common indicators that you need to work on improving your mindset. In fact, often folks with low self-esteem, a lack of confidence, or that just feel invisible can find themselves saying yes to more than just one or two of these assessments .
If that’s you . . . oh yeah . . . you’re practically screaming for a change of mindset!
Here Are A Few Tips To Improve Your Mindset
A great place to start to improve your mindset is to begin to uncover and track your inner dialogue and the stories you tell about yourself. Look at the root of where that thought or story about you came from and decide whether or not you want to keep it or if it’s time to let it go.
Another great exercise is to reframe the story or thought into a more positive one and that better serves the narrative and life you want for yourself.
A very important tool in your mindset improvement arsenal is going to be learning to set healthy boundaries. You’ll need to be able to block the naysayers and let go of “friends” and family that tear you down or just have a very negative view of life in general. Because a negative Mindset can be contagious if you let it.
And, think about what you’re eating and how much you’re moving too. I think that’s what Cheryl would say. You can check out her response to this post on her Thin Strong Healthy blog Tips to Relieve Depression
